Feature drama starring Minnie Driver as a schoolteacher intent on
staging a rock opera version of 'The Tempest'. It is the summer of
1976, and Viv May (Driver) is an enthusiastic young drama teacher
at a Swansea secondary school. With her diaphanous dresses and
progressive attitudes, former actress Viv has her enemies amongst
the school's more conservative staff, and has set her sights on
creating a high-octane fusion of Shakespeare and David Bowie for
this year's school performance. Between rehearsals her adolescent
students pass the hot summer days lounging around the lido,
fighting and falling in love, as their future beyond the safe
confines of school life looms ahead of them.
Five years after the first edition of Landscape Restoration
Handbook was published, its natural landscaping and ecological
restoration techniques have become standard-and successful-practice
throughout the nation. Now, the Landscape Restoration Handbook:
Second Edition substantially widens the scope of the original work.
Approximately 250 pages larger than the first edition, new and
expanded chapters offer guidance on: Development of natural
landscaping and ecological restoration programs Education, regional
planning, and increased biological diversity Ecological communities
species listings Scientific and common plant names associated with
ecological communities Nurseries that propagate and sell native
plants throughout the United States Naturalization has proven to be
a "win-win" situation all around. Monetary costs that landowners
are saving on maintenance and chemicals also translates to
environmental benefits for the greater community. Landscape and
golf course architects, urban planners, horticulturists, golf
course superintendents and consultants have already put the
Landscape Restoration Handbook to the test. Let the Second Edition
bring you up-to-date on the numerous benefits of naturalization.

Marc Evans writes and directs this drama starring the singer,
Duffy, in her debut film role. When Rhys (Matthew Gravelle) is
required to travel to South America to do a work assignment on
Patagonia's Welsh community, his partner, Gwen (Nia Roberts), goes
with him, despite the fact they are having relationship
difficulties. While there, however, Gwen falls for their driver,
Mateo (Matthew Rhys). At the same time, an elderly woman, Cerys
(Marta Lubos), leaves Patagonia and heads to Wales where she hopes
to discover her family's history. She is accompanied by her nephew,
Alejandro (Nahuel Pérez Biscayart), who becomes romantically
involved with local girl Sissy (Duffy).
Traditionally the focus of triathlon is on volume, intensity,
and training periodization--doing particular workouts during the
months, weeks, and days leading up to a race. But what if you could
improve performance without logging extra distance on the road or
in the water? That is the promise of "Triathletes in Motion:
Assessing Movement for World-Class Technique and Performance." In
this book, Marc Evans introduces the Evans Assessment principle and
makes the case that every triathlon training regimen should start
with the physical assessments of movement. By looking carefully at
movements during these assessments, you can detect limitations to
mobility, flexibility, strength, and stability. These limiters
cannot be corrected by traditional technique instruction alone, so
Evans presents specific exercises and tests that address each one.
The results are greater efficiency, fewer injuries, and faster
performances.
Whether you are a veteran triathlete seeking a performance
breakthrough, a newer triathlete starting the training season, or a
coach or member of a triathlon federation searching for that edge,
training should start with "Triathletes in Motion." This resource
includes hundreds of tests and exercises to help triathletes swim,
cycle, and run faster and more economically. Marc Evans was
triathlon's first professional coach and has consulted, coached,
collaborated with, and mentored some of the biggest names in the
sport, including Dave Scott and Scott Tinley. His coauthor, Jane
Cappaert, is a leading expert in sport biomechanics. Now they make
their unique expertise available to everyone in "Triathletes in
Motion."

Kentucky's abundance of plant and animal life, from the bottomland
swamps in the west to the rich Appalachian forests in the east, is
extraordinary as well as beautiful. Glades, prairies, forests,
wetlands, rivers, and caves form a biologically diverse patchwork
that is unique to the state. Kentucky's Natural Heritage: An
Illustrated Guide to Biodiversity provides an essential reference
to the remarkable natural history of the commonwealth and is a
rallying call for the conservation of this priceless legacy.
Kentucky's ecosystems teem with diverse native species, some of
which are found nowhere else in the world. Kentucky's Natural
Heritage brings these sometimes elusive creatures into close view,
from black-throated green warblers to lizard skin liverworts. The
aquatic systems of the state are home to rainbow darters, ghost
crayfish, salamander mussels, and an impressive array of other
species that constitute some of the greatest levels of freshwater
diversity on the planet. Kentucky's Natural Heritage presents a
persuasive argument for conservation of the state's biodiversity.
Organized by a team from the Kentucky State Nature Preserves
Commission, the book is an outgrowth of the agency's focus on
biodiversity protection. Richly detailed and lavishly illustrated
with more than 250 color photos, maps, and charts, Kentucky's
Natural Heritage is the definitive compendium of the commonwealth's
amazing diversity. It celebrates the natural beauty of some of the
most important ecosystems in the nation and presents a compelling
case for the necessity of conservation.
Kentucky's rich soil and wonderfully diverse landscapes have for
centuries made the state a welcoming habitat for a dazzling variety
of wildflowers. From the delicate Kentucky glade cress to the fiery
royal catchfly, flowers, grasses, and sedges nestle on rocky
hillsides, bask in open woodlands and prairies, and even manage to
thrive in busy rights of way and roadsides. As demand for natural
resources and land for development and housing in the Commonwealth
grows, land use and habitats are quickly changing. Unfortunately,
this translates into disappearing or degraded habitats for a host
of remarkable wildflowers. Currently 255 plant species in Kentucky
are considered endangered or threatened, and there are more than 50
potential additions to the list. Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky
provides an introduction to Kentucky's signature rare plants with
220 gorgeous full-color photographs by Thomas G. Barnes, a
naturalist and award-winning photographer. These rare wildflowers
and their descriptions are organized by habitat, and the book draws
attention to the enduring beauty of Kentucky's old-growth forests,
prairies, wetlands, and other habitats. In addition to serving as a
stunning photographic record of Kentucky's rare plants, the book
examines ecological communities and the ways in which they are
threatened. The authors also explain how various plants have become
endangered over the decades and suggest concrete steps for
conservation and preservation at both the government and private
level. The book also includes references, a list of scientific and
common species names, and a list of each plant's endangered status
that is especially useful to gardeners, botanists, and
horticultural professionals. Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky is both a
celebration and a call to action to save the plants that are a
vital part of Kentucky's natural heritage.
